Covid-19 Face Mask 1. A snug fit is the most critical aspect of any mask, as it plays a key role in preventing virus particles from entering through gaps around the edges. 2. Before cutting out the mask material, prime and prepare the surface to minimize seepage. 3. Engaging in physical activity will increase the volume of air you need, potentially requiring a filter cartridge with an increased filtration surface area to keep up with your breathing demands. 4. I installed an exhaust fan due to my breathing difficulties; while inhaling is manageable, forced exhalation leaves me extremely fatigued. Use this feature if you're confident it won't put others at risk, but be aware that excessive use might compromise the integrity of the mask. 5. All designs are educated guesses; only certified masks provide guaranteed protection, even with a tight fit and proper usage training. 6. When selecting a filter material, ensure there are no loose particles that can become dislodged and enter your lungs. A fine polyester mesh weave is an excellent option. 7. I printed the mask in PLA and used a hairdryer to soften the edges, molding it to my face (more specifically, the septum) for a tighter fit around 50 degrees Celsius. 8.
