Bad Necromancer.PSA: I am using this as an example of what not to do with depth maps and pics to create stable diffusion plaques. This is a picture I made a year ago or so when developing some ideas for a necromancer. Today I wanted to see how a regular (non-bas-relief) photo/pic would fair in creating plaques.Short Answer.. MEH.. Strongly Suggest using a Bas-Relief LORA with the following considerations. I have found the SDXL 1.0 with the bas-relief LORA along with SDXL refiner at .8  is a good starting point. Avoid: overexposed/underexposed high contrast photos:   this is mostly what killed this from working as sculpted plaque. Do use prompt words like “Flat Lighting, Smooth Gradient, Soft Lighting, Even Lighting, Soft Gradient, Greyscale, diffused light box lighting”.  You really don't need color, but you do need smooth transitions and low grain in those transitions)Do use Negative prompts like “Deep shadows, Dark Shadows, Harsh Gradient, color, poor quality,”I have also found that if I choose descriptors like “In the style of” + your favorite photographer, artists → stable diffusion does a fairly good job at capturing the moods and poses associated with those particular artists.  Think Annie Leibovitz or Helmut Newton… Distinct and One look and you're like oh that's Annie. You can see the washed-out areas in the corners… that's from harsh lighting.  Harsh Lighting will also distort and tilt or exaggerate the entire Hight to one side that has most of the light.  after the Initial displacement with the height map, You will do a second Displacement with the original picture.  Always test and see if the image works better with negative strength.  if .02 was working as far as height and depth go… please try -.02 … you may be pleasantly supprised.   (BLENDER)
