Prusia I3 rework/clones extruder cable protector/tray - updated
thingiverse
UPDATE: Includes version 2 (ver 2 in filenames). Key differences include a 0.5mm shorter gap for cable snap-in and an increased top cylinder diameter by 1mm to enhance its strength. A previous modification extended my Z axis distance from 107mm to 207mm, resulting in the cable popping out once. However, with version 2, I can print tall objects again. The base piece that sits directly on the frame has been widened, and the overall design is slightly longer. If your current version (ver1) is working fine, there's no need to update to ver 2; I made this modification to improve cable management for larger print areas. My extruder cable is bundled in PET for cleanliness, but it protects 14 wires inside. The existing stands were getting damaged due to the cable sliding along the aluminum frame's corners, so I designed this piece with rounded corners where the cable can be exposed. The part was printed using black Hatchbox PLA with 215 layers at 0.1mm and 20% infill. Brown original Gorilla glue is used for fixation, as it adheres better to aluminum than hot glue. Printing requires minimal supports but they are necessary. The bracket mounts have a diameter of 7mm, and the file is included in the ZIP.
