Prusa Z motor mount and Coupling

Revamp your Z motor mount with a thrust bearing and coupling for optimal performance. The original design had potential issues like weight pulling on the shaft and coupling slipping, but redesigns have proven effective. With this revised model, all the weight is on the thrust bearing, not the motor, ensuring smooth prints. I found affordable, suitable bearings on eBay. For installation, cut a 280mm threaded bar and fix a nut to one end, then fit the coupling to the motor with no play. Insert the bearing and bar, securing the motor to the holder using M3 screws or long bolts if available. Lastly, attach the bearing holder in the Z-motor mount at the x-end, true the axis, and you're good to go!
