Prusa Y-Axis Torsion Motor Mount
thingiverse
This project involved replacing 5mm timing cables with SynchroMesh Cable for a Reprap Prusa's X and Y axis. The SynchroMesh cable is compact, which allowed for the creation of a torsion box for the Y-axis motor, using readily available 695ZZ bearings. The design is derived from Spacexula's Y Bracket and Prusa's original design, but includes options to print a calibration piece for fine tuning hole sizes. A video showcasing the torsion box in action can be viewed on YouTube. To install, print the provided Y motor Bracket and bearing trap STL files, as well as the pulley from Thingiverse. Optionally, print the reverse bearing trap if desired. Disassemble the front Y-axis bracket, position the SynchroMesh pulley on the stepper motor, reassemble the torsion box, and bolt it to the motor with M3 25mm bolts. This upgrade results in a lack of unwanted movement in the Y-axis motor.
