This X carriage boasts a magnetically mounted probe adapted from Nophead's magnet probe (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7550). It offers almost automatic bed levelling without requiring a servo, making it ideal for users with Sanguinololu boards who desire auto bed levelling without investing in additional components like a RAMPS and a servo. The setup requires an ATmega 1284, and an LCD control is recommended for better operation. As of now, the design remains a work in progress, awaiting mounting and testing on a printer. After testing, it has demonstrated excellent performance. This upgrade has significantly enhanced the reliability of the user's Prusa machine by simplifying the printing process: insert SD card, select file, lower probe, initiate print, and wait for completion, as opposed to the previous time-consuming and error-prone method. The X carriage parts are joined using 2 M3 bolts, with M2.5 nuts potentially providing a better fit. In the start code, a M1 command is integrated before G28 and G29 commands to ensure the probe is lowered before printing starts. A move to z15 precedes homing levelling for adequate clearance. Strong magnets are crucial for raising the probe higher from the print bed. The user has shared a sample of their start code, showcasing the integration of this innovative magnetically mounted probe design.
