###Prusa-Wanhao-Mendel X Gantry for Wham Bam Mutant ####Designed to be used with the Wham Bam Mutant Universal Tool Swapping System. #####Learn more about the Mutant here: https://whambamsystems.com/mutant #####Welcome to the Mutant Invasion! So far no firmware updates have been needed, but I expect that there will be some before this project is complete. ####IMPORTANT: THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS. INSTRUCTIONS, INFO, AND STL FILES ARE PRELIMINARY. THINGS ARE STILL CHANGING, SO I SUGGEST YOU SELECT WATCH TO BE NOTIFIED AS CHANGES ARE MADE. These are beta designs to mount the Wham Bam Mutant onto Prusa MK2.X, MK3.X, Wanhao i3, and other 3D printers based on the 45mm center-to-center dual rod X gantries. Recommend printing in PETG or ABS. • Prusa Syle Mutant X Gantry Plate-beta3.stl (beta version, testing has been started) • X Endstop Prusa MK2X Series.stl OR • MK2.5S-Short X EndStop.stl • MK2.5S-X-end-motor-M.stl The beta 5 version has been updated to support two styles of X Endstop brackets. One for the Prusa MK2.X OEM extruder/hotend assemble, and another for other hotends/devices on the MK2.X series. An X Endstop bracket is not needed for the MK3.X series. This mount will not lose any Z Axis build volume. In fact if you build your own firmware you can INCREASE Z Axis build space by up to 15mm to get a total of 225mm (on an MK3.X series). This is because with the Mutant the X gantry can get closer to the build plate. If you ONLY use the part(s) above, since the Mutant is wider and thicker than the OEM setups for the Prusa Style printers, 28mm of X Axis build space is lost. Resulting in a 222mm X by 200mm Y build space. No firmware changes are needed for the above. If you choose to use the included replacements for the Prusa Z Axis bottom and top STLs. AND purchase two 8mm x 400mm Hardened Chrome Plated Linear Motion Rods you can recover the full 250mm X Axis build volume. • z-axis-top.stl • z-axis-bottom.stl • 8mm x 400mm Hardened Chrome Plated Linear Motion Rods - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DPGD69D This added mod makes the X gantry 30mm wider (15mm each side). With this you get the full 250mm X Axis build space. The following modified Prusa parts for the MK2.5S are needed to mount your existing OEM setup on the Mutant (versions for the MK3.5S/+ are being edited and will be posted in the next day or two. • extruder-body-R5M.stl • extruder-motor-plate-R4M.stl • extruder-cover-R5M.stl Re-use the other parts (extruder-idler.stl, fs-cover.stl. fs-lever.stl, etc.) as those have not changed. NOTE: The following firmware changes are preliminary, and may be incomplete, and or simplified through the use of a custom 'variant' file. My intention is to provide a set of variant files for the Mutant on different Prusa models (MK2.5S and MK3.5S+ are the current targets). To get the firmware to recognize the changes for a wider X gantry, you will need to compile your own Prusa firmware. The following changes are needed for a MK3.5 series: // Travel limits after homing #define X_MAX_POS 280 #define X_MIN_POS 0 #define Y_MAX_POS 210 #define Y_MIN_POS -2.2 #define Z_MAX_POS 210 // You should be able to increase this to 230 Depending on the HotEnd setup you attach to the Mutant you will also need to modify theses settings: #define X_PROBE_OFFSET_FROM_EXTRUDER 23 // Z probe to nozzle X offset: -left +right #define Y_PROBE_OFFSET_FROM_EXTRUDER 5 // Z probe to nozzle Y offset: -front +behind #define Z_PROBE_OFFSET_FROM_EXTRUDER -0.4 // Z probe to nozzle Z offset: -below (always!) The values listed above are for the Prusa standard settings. With the wider X Axis, the pinda probe test points need to be updated: // #define AUTO_BED_LEVELING_GRID // with AUTO_BED_LEVELING_GRID, the bed is sampled in a // AUTO_BED_LEVELING_GRID_POINTSxAUTO_BED_LEVELING_GRID_POINTS grid // and least squares solution is calculated // Note: this feature occupies 10'206 byte #ifdef AUTO_BED_LEVELING_GRID // set the rectangle in which to probe #define LEFT_PROBE_BED_POSITION 15 #define RIGHT_PROBE_BED_POSITION 210 #define BACK_PROBE_BED_POSITION 220 #define FRONT_PROBE_BED_POSITION 20 // set the number of grid points per dimension // I wouldn't see a reason to go above 3 (=9 probing points on the bed) #define AUTO_BED_LEVELING_GRID_POINTS 3 #else // not AUTO_BED_LEVELING_GRID // with no grid, just probe 3 arbitrary points. A simple cross-product // is used to esimate the plane of the print bed #define ABL_PROBE_PT_1_X 15 #define ABL_PROBE_PT_1_Y 210 #define ABL_PROBE_PT_2_X 15 #define ABL_PROBE_PT_2_Y 20 #define ABL_PROBE_PT_3_X 220 #define ABL_PROBE_PT_3_Y 20 #endif // AUTO_BED_LEVELING_GRID _If you would like a way to store your Mutant Mobile hotend assemblies and other Mutant devices while not on a printer check out my Mutant Workstation mounts here: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-mutant-workstation-mounts-149200 _
