Prusa Universal LED/Camera mounting system (will work for any printer with an extruded frame)
myminifactory
I was in dire need of mounting both LED lights and a Raspberry Pi camera to my Prusa Mk3, but I wasn't finding anything that met my expectations, so I decided to create my own solution. This mount is versatile and can be used on any printer with an extruded frame! I wanted a system that offered flexibility, stability, and strength, as well as ease of printing. The primary use for this system is remote monitoring of the printer, providing excellent lighting and a clear view of the entire print bed. The system is modular, allowing multiple items to be attached to the printer. The mounting arms fit securely into the extruded frame, providing a solid connection to the frame. The mounts feature a ball joint and are secured in place with a printed nut. Three different mounting arms are included: 1) A straight arm measuring 80mm, 2) a right-angle arm with a 10mm section and a 100mm section after a 90-degree turn, and 3) another right-angle arm with an 80mm section and a 100mm section after a 90-degree turn. The mount screws come in three sizes: 1) 60mm, 2) 90mm, and 3) 120mm (not shown). I chose to use screw mounts because there are too many variables when it comes to what people put under their printers, so I couldn't anticipate the height of everyone's printer. The mount screws make it completely adjustable. I used Dan Kirshner's openscad module for creating the threads, which is available here: http://dkprojects.net/openscad-threads/threads.scad. There are two mounts provided: 1) A Raspberry Pi Camera V2 Mount and 2) a Universal Mount. The universal mount can be used to attach LED lights or other webcams, but it will require zip ties for attachment. Both sets of mounts feature the nut in place and were printed with ease. It took some prototyping to get this part just right.
