Prusa-Top Spool Mount
thingiverse
This spool mount design takes inspiration from the MendelMax version and is designed to fit onto Prusa Mendel's threaded rods. A parametric script is provided for FreeCAD usage; otherwise, an STL file works standard for Prusa. Consider reusing spools with the Ultimachine Split-Spool Hack (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:16758). The mount uses 4 x 608 bearings fastened via 5/16 or 8mm threaded rods/bolts. Cut leftover threaded rod into 35mm sections with a Dremel cutoff wheel, and leave two nuts on the section before cutting for reshaping threads post-cut. Use washers on both sides of the plastic piece during assembly. For noise reduction during large X movements, place plastic drinking straws over the top frame threaded rods between spool mounts. Cut a slit along the length of the straw (striped ones work well as guidelines).
