I constructed an enclosure for my MK3S printer and required a solution for filament spools. Initially, I tested some interior spool holder designs but opted to repurpose the spool holder that came with the printer. I utilized a router to carve a .375" x 7.0" slot into the top of my enclosure just above the x-axis assembly. This enables the filament to move in sync with the print head, which is particularly advantageous for tall prints. To secure the slot cover, I applied silicone sealant. The spool mounting block is designed for use with drywall or wood screws (#10). Choose a length suitable for your enclosure top. You can screw it down directly against or very near the slot cover. The spool holder interface part is detachable; simply snap it onto the Prusa Spool Holder and slide it into the groove on the mounting block.
