The RepRap community has been missing one crucial piece to customise their extruder and hot end mounts - a well-designed X-carriage. I couldn't find it in .scad format, so I created my own version from scratch using the rework stl file as a reference for measurements and design. This OpenSCAD x-carriage is designed to be easily customised by users who want to add self levelling or modify it to suit different X axis configurations. It includes several features that were missing in the original design, including a deeper belt clamp and a deeper bearing offset. The current version of the file supports two different bearing configurations - twin bearings per axle as per the original design, and single bearings per axle which I customised for my Geetech Prusa i3 to use the original bearings. I've also added an optional cutout that clears the X tensioner bearing bolt, ensuring maximum x travel. This feature may be useful on other Prusa i3 machines too. Additionally, there is an optional square corner option that helps with x end stop activation. It may be of use for other Prusa printers where the end stop switch is near the top of the carriage. Switches at the top of the file allow users to change bearings per axle (1 or 2) and whether the design should include the tensioner bearing cutout. The default values mimic the original rework design. All other values have parameters at the top of the source, making it easy for experienced users to customise the design. I hope this contribution is helpful to the community! If you use or like this design, please let me know and I'll add more rework items in .scad files as I create them. Printer Settings: - Printer Brand: RepRap - Printer: Geetech Prusa i3 - Rafts: Doesn't Matter - Supports: Yes - Resolution: 0.2 - Infill: 20 Notes: I use wall and top/bottom thickness set to 1.2.
