In response to the severe shortage of protective gear for medical professionals during this pandemic, Prusa has rapidly developed and is now mass-producing protective face shields. They have already printed and donated over 12,000 shields to medics and other experts in the Czech Republic and are receiving requests for an additional 90,000 shields. But the shortage affects not just one country; it's a global issue that everyone with access to a 3D printer can help address! Communities of 3D printing enthusiasts worldwide have become a driving force behind the effort to produce protective gear for those in greatest need. This is why Prusa has made the design of the shields fully open-source, allowing anyone to produce and/or modify them. The shields are also made from easily accessible and affordable materials. Prusa invites you to help by spreading the word or joining their collective endeavor - as a community, we can provide thousands of people in need with vital protection.Reach out to local institutions and ask if they could use additional protective gear (the likelihood is that they will definitely need it!). It's not just about hospitals and first responders like police officers and firefighters; nursing homes, dentists, and grocery store staff also require protection - simply put, you can offer your help to all those who must continue serving or interacting with many people during this crisis. You can download the files from their website at https://www.prusa3d.com/covid19/
