Prusa Mount for Makerbot mk7 Extruder
thingiverse
This project involves creating a direct drive extruder utilizing MakerGear parts, compatible with Makerbot mk7 and mk8 extruders. The aluminum block, designed for hot end attachment, is also suitable for both extruder types when mounted on a Prusa X-Carriage. However, be cautious as this assembly has not been tested with a Makerbot hot end, which may cause issues. Additionally, access to the experimental MG hot end mount is required. The component is laser cut from 3mm plywood (or preferably 1/16" stainless steel for Makerbot extruders), and installation involves mounting the aluminum block to the adapter through the slot, securing it with screws on the X carriage, and attaching heatsink/fan and motor. A video of the extruder in action can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyMfSAiMk0I. An update mentions a new version made from 1/8" aluminum plate due to heat issues with the wooden one.
