Prusa MMU - Right Angle Extruder Bracket

Prusa MMU - Right Angle Extruder Bracket

thingiverse

A frame bracket for the Prusa "MultiMaterial Upgrade" upgrade allows the extruders to sit perfectly perpendicular to the top frame. This setup proves especially helpful when an enclosure is used, such as an IKEA Lack or cabinet, and there isn't much clearance above the print bed for the PTFE tubes. The PTFE tubes just clear the top of the frame by a hair. The extruder frame sits 24mm (about one inch) above the frame. Meanwhile, the PTFE tubes are positioned about 1mm above the frame. Warning: When using this upgrade, note that the extruder frame rotates with motors facing downwards. This reverses the order of the extruders (4321 instead of 1234). Rewiring them in this configuration will require some experience and differs from Prusa's standard assembly instructions. Furthermore, as pointed out by @ir_fuel, using PTFE tubes at maximum Z height can cause binding issues. As a result, usable print height is reduced when employing this modification, so be mindful of that if you decide to use it.
