Prusa MK3S Spool Holder Mod
thingiverse
I encountered issues with some filament spools, specifically those without a raised inner lip, getting caught on the standard T-shaped Prusa MK3S spool holder. This project took two hours to resolve the problem quickly. # Goals * Minimize friction in the system * Utilize the existing base (reduce waste) * Leave one arm unmodified (works well for most of the filament I use) * Employ hardware readily available on hand # Required Hardware * 2 x 86mm long smooth rods, 4mm in diameter * 4 x 3mm nuts * 4 x 14mm long bolts, 3mm in diameter * 2 x bearings with an outer diameter of 8mm and a hole diameter of 4mm # Miscellaneous Several improvements can be made easily: * Trim the rod to the exact length needed (I left it at 100mm) * Experiment with using one smooth rod or three smooth rods * I decided to glue spacers onto the rod to prevent horizontal movement. Alternatively, the spacers could be resized to cover the full length of the rod.
