This is a rehash of the Prusa MK3S filament sensor device re-engineered to fit onto a Creality CR-10, CR-10S, or Ender 3 printer. It will fit any 3D printer with a 5VCC, GND, and Logic Return line. I think Prusa nailed this most recent release of the MK3S in that the filament sensing is mechanical where it needs to be so that it can detect any filament, yet IR is used so that there are no failures like you would see with the mechanical lever arm actuators. I thought it would be cool to port this awesome aspect into a form factor that can be added to any printer already equipped with a Raspberry Pi or a 3-wire filament sensor. The IR sensor is normally open when filament is present, make sure to update OctoPrint "filament sensor reloaded" plugin to match. Filament Sensor Reloaded (plugin attached in downloads): Pin: 4 Debounce time: 100ms Switch Type: Normally open Board Pin Mode: BCM Sensor Pi Pins: VCC 2 GND 6 Out 7 (GPIO 4) Use the command prompt on the Pi to test. gpio readall will show the table of logic values. If the board reads "0" without filament, try loosening/re-positioning the board until "1" is shown. You can also tail the logs if you want to watch the flow in OctoPrint: cd .octoprint/logs tail -F octoprint.log Bill of materials: (1) adapter-printer ; Original Prusa ball bearing holder (1) CR10 FS Base Rev C ; Print in PETG since you'll have a lot leftover from Prusa MK3S upgrade (1) CR10 FS Cover Rev C (1) CR10 FS Top Rev C (1) fs-lever ; Original lever arm Hardware (use MK3S kit spares): (2) M3 x 10mm cap screw (1) M3 x 25mm cap screw (1) 7mm ball bearing (1) 10x6x2 Magnet (1) 20x6x2 Magnet (2) M3s nut (1) M3 nut (1) M2 x 8 cap screw Electronics: (1) 3-wire lead terminated in Molex ; I used an old burnt up Noctua fan plug (1) Prusa IR sensor ; Available at Prusa printers, $8.99 for the spare part If you don't have spares, it looks like you can get the sensor and hardware here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PYQWGK1/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AJUKUXZVPYM6H&psc=1
