Prusa MK3S MMU2S Extruder Idler door (debris opening)
thingiverse
A minor tweak to the original or remixed design has been made. The lower section was removed, as it serves no purpose in functionality. Reasoning: Even perfectly functioning MMU2s require regular service. One essential service involves cleaning out debris that accumulates around the Bondtech gears. Based on my experience, every 2000-4000 filament changes necessitate removing debris and filament dust to ensure the Prusa operates optimally. In this revised idler door design, the gap between the housing and idler door has been increased, which enhances the potential for a self-cleaning mechanism (though not entirely solving the issue). No adverse effects have been encountered thus far. Debris falling into place: In my experience, it poses no significant problem. Debris may fall onto the model or get trapped under the heat bed. Large chunks are relatively rare, and even rarer is the occurrence of them spilling out. A long-term test continues, scheduled to conclude after XMas, involving approximately 30000 filament changes and 6-7 kilos of filament usage.
