Prusa Mk3s Hemera Filament Sensor

Prusa Mk3s Hemera Filament Sensor

thingiverse

This utilizes the parts from the existing Prusa filament sensor when upgrading from the MK3/S/+ stock extruder to the Hemera. You will need the 2 magnets, steel ball and sensor. However, this can be used with any printer utilizing a Hemera if you have the necessary parts. Includes a slot to feed in the stock hemera ptfe tube as well. Installation Instructions: Screw down filament sensor to the top mounting hole, in the same way it is on the Mk3 using the original or similarly sized screw. Do not tighten all the way, you need to still have play to be able to install the other parts. Add your steel ball into the open cavity to the left of the sensor housing. It will not fit unless the sensor is loose. Insert magnets into the lever and housing. Ensure a tight fit, and that the magnet are opposing when installed. Use hot glue/ super glue as necessary on the lever magnet.(housing magnet will be held into place regardless) Place lever into its proper cavity, ensuring that the top bit of the arm resides within the gap of the plastic prongs on the filament sensor, it should be able to move freely. tighten down the screw for the filament sensor insert 2 m3 nuts into the secondary housing and then secure the 2 pieces of the housing together with 2 appropriate length M3 bolts add a 3rd bolt of the correct length (don't have the measurement off hand, but it should extend slightly past the the lever, into the main housing when inserted from the secondary housing side). This bolt acts as the axis for the lever, it should not be torqued down to hard. Also not that it is inserted from the same side as the 2 nuts. Verify the ball moves freely when you insert filament into the top, and that it returns to its original position when removed. Note that the clip of the filament sensor cable should be facing downwards, as it is in the pictures. Mount to hemera body, clip a PTFE tube to the appropriate length to insert into the bottom of the sensor housing while still bottoming out into the hemera. However, make sure its not too long as to push up onto the housing.
