Prusa MK3S FS Cover and Adapter Printer Upgrade
thingiverse
On the Prusa MK3S when the filament runs out and the filament sensor pauses the print, sometimes a filament jam occurs when attempting to unload the filament. This jam often occurs because the end of the filament is bent sharply to hold in place on the filament spool. Thus when unloading the filament this odd angle can get stuck and redirects the remaining filament inside the top of the extruder housing and not out the filament hole. These two part upgrades should help to resolve this issue and greatly reduce the frequency of these frustrating events. This modification creates an enlarging and gentle reshaping of the path that the filament travels while being ejected. While these jams could still occur, the frequency of the jams should be greatly reduced. The two parts that have been changed are the "adapter printer" and the "fs cover". The adapter printer is the small part that the steel ball fits inside as part of the filament sensor mechanism and the fs cover is the top cover over the extruder. Thingiverse sucks, but hey the sky is also blue. Selecting "Download All" results in a 404 error. In order to download you must select "Thing Files" and then download the individual file.
