Prusa MK3S 3KG Spool Holder

<p>Wanted to mount a 3KG spool. There are a few angled holders similar to the stock design out there, but with all that weight, I wanted the spool to be directly above the frame. Used a pair of 608z (8mmID x 22mmOD x 7mmW), bearings I had laying around.</p> <p>.STEP and Solidworks source files included so you can mod if you don't want the bearings.</p> <p>My 3kg spools are appx 255mmOD x 125mmW. I don't know if it's a good idea to mount this much weight on the frame, but I print pretty slow, and so far, no problem.</p> <p>Build at your own discretion.</p> <p>UPDATE 7/31/20: Been printing with this a bit, the 3kg spool MAY LIMIT YOUR Z HEIGHT.....oops.</p> <h3>Print instructions</h3><p>The fit is pretty tight, I had to sand down the very bottom lip, and the three crush tabs on the upper inner surface of the clamp. Even then it was a tight fit. Be prepared for a touch of finishing work to get it jammed on there.</p> <p>One of the 608z bearings press fit perfectly, the other was a little loose, so I used some tape.</p> <p>You could probably do this without the bearing and I imagine it would work fine, but you may want to modify the file first, otherwise you'll have a tiny axle sitting in a big slot and it might look weird.</p>
