Prusa Mk3 Y Carriage With 4 Bearings
thingiverse
This is the dxf file for a design that I created based on the Prusa's 3-bearing Y carriage for the Mk3 printer and 24v Mk52 heatbed. The design accommodates four bearings, two on each side, providing maximum stability. I have arranged to have this cut from high-quality .19" 6061 aluminum plate, with pictures and performance data to follow as they become available. Edit 4 Dec 2018: Yesterday's cutting process was a success, and the video documenting it can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/l_0kqAd1eqg. Despite its impressive size of nearly five millimeters, the carriage is astoundingly light, even surpassing my steel model in terms of weight reduction. I identified an error in the original drawing file where a hidden layer generated unnecessary holes, which has since been corrected. I will post further updates as I progress with installation. Notably, all the holes align perfectly with the Mk52 bed, ensuring seamless integration. Update: The carriage is now installed and functioning flawlessly. I opted for block bearing mounts but note that stock mounts could also be utilized effectively.
