Prusa MK3/MK3s Rubber Feet Support/Stabiliser
thingiverse
So the stock rubber feet for the MK3 leave your printer wobbling all over the place, the hard feet are great but make your printer a lot noisier, there has to be a better solution right? This is designed to hold the stock rubber feet in place while stabilizing them as much as possible. I achieve this by designing the foot holder so that only a very small proportion of the foot clears the bottom of the support. The other part to this is that the foot holder is slightly undersized, compressing the rubber feet slightly makes the bottom of the feet more grippy when you put your printer on a surface. Important: When you first fit the rubber feet, the holder will seem too small, but it's designed that way. As you tighten them against the frame, it should force the rubber foot further into the part and into the correct position with just a small amount of the rubber foot clear at the bottom. I then secured them using a 3D printed 3030 T nut for M3 fasteners (this is the one I used: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3199057). Addition hardware required: 8x M3 Machine screws, 8-10mm long (I used 5mm which were just long enough but a bit fiddly, 8-10mm should make life much easier) 8x M3 Nut's (I used nyloc's) These have significantly reduced the amount my machine wobbles round and have had a positive effect on print quality while maintaining the quiet printing of the stock feet. I also move my printer round a fair amount so installing these has meant I no longer have to worry about the stock feet falling out as I move it round. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update 1: I have slightly tweaked the file to allow extra tolerance, I was finding installing them was slightly hard. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Update 2: I have now been running these on my printer for some time and have done a fair amount of printing and testing with them. I have printed a huge variety of things from highly detailed lithographs of the moon that are <24 hour prints to tall skinny rocket nosecones that use the full build height. With all of the prints I have done, I have found that these feet have performed very well throughout and I am getting really good consistent high-quality prints while my printer continues to be quiet.
