I designed this adapter to enable mounting my advanced filament sensor mod to the standard extruder. This straightforward modification fixes the laser filament sensor so it functions flawlessly with all filament colors, including transparent ones. It accomplishes this by utilizing a simple intermediary (small bearing) that travels along with the filament. The [laser sensor](https://os.mbed.com/components/PAT9125EL-Miniature-Optical-Navigation-f/) is actually engineered to read stainless steel using its infrared laser, making this modification remarkably reliable. I have been employing this adaptation for months and printing an abundance of clear and other filaments without any issues. You can obtain the necessary parts from my [Skelestruder](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2845416) project or [reverse Bowden](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3255143). Simply acquire the I-lid (or PI-lid if using MMU2) and the spring. You will need to purchase a single 673 (aka MR63) bearing. The picture displays it mounted on R3 extruder, but it will work with R2 as well. Why an adapter? I chose not to create a custom version for stock because it would be a maintenance nightmare to keep it in sync with any improvements I make going forward. So I designed this adapter to translate the mount to mine. Refer to instructions below.
