Prusa MK3 Enclosure Bracket for LCD Controller
cults3d
I've been working on building the Prusa Enclosure, and I decided to relocate my LCD controller to the front of the cabinet. If you haven't built one of these cabinets yet, they are truly amazing. To make the profile of the bracket as compact as possible while utilizing the existing controller's mount, I designed it with a minimal footprint. The resulting design allows for the LCD controller to be easily docked or undocked as needed. In order to extend the two existing 10-pin IDC connectors from the control box to the front of the enclosure, you will need to move your printer forward about an inch and use a feedthrough port directly below your control box. The STL files for the feedthrough are included in the download. A 2-inch hole saw is required for installation, and there are three screw holes surrounding the feedthrough port that are optional. When selecting the position for the feedthrough, make sure to take into account the rubber foot on the back corner. If you examine the picture I uploaded of the feedthrough, you can see that the rubber foot is almost directly above it. Ideally, I should have positioned the feedthrough further towards the outside edge. Once the feedthrough is in place, the rest of the process is quite straightforward: 1. Disconnect the two 10-pin IDC connectors from the display and note the positions. 2. Remove the LCD from the printer by unscrewing the four M3 screws holding it in place. 3. Use these same screws to mount the "extContMnt_dove_15.STL" parts onto the existing mount. Please note that if you install them upside down, they will not function properly (refer to the picture). 4. Mount the "extContMnt_bracket_v2.STL" wherever you want your LCD controller using two #8 wood screws. 5. The LCD Controller should slide right into place. Please note that the arrow on the bracket indicates its center point. If you want to perfectly center the bracket on the enclosure, find the center and align it accordingly.
