Prusa Mk3 1:4 scale xmas ornament

<p>I decided to make a 1:4 scale version of my Mk3 printer for the Holiday competition.</p> <p>This is pretty accurate dimensionally (though not perfect, and with some liberties taken to make it printable).<br/> Note that the extruder is the R2 version with the part fan vertical instead of at 45deg. (I may try to update it to the R3 extruder, but since I'm not using that extruder, I'd have to base that off dimensions from the STL files)</p> <p>The model was designed in Fusion 360 (no parts are re-scaled from the original prusa models, since most would be unprintable).<br/> I took measurements from my printer using digital calipers (I found this better than trying to refer to the Prusa OpenSCAD models). I used the Y carriage DXF drawing as reference for that (though the Y carriage design on the MK3 is very strange with no continuous straight lines)</p> <p>No supports are needed for any parts :)</p> <p>The assembly should be relatively self-evident.<br/> All the rods are silver 1.75mm filament.<br/> All the cables are black 1.75mm filament<br/> You WILL need to superglue parts together and have reasonably steady hands to assemble and glue (I suggest using a lighted magnifier to do this).</p> <p>All part dimensions have been optimized for 0.4mm nozzle (0.45mm line width) at 0.2mm layer height. You could likely print ok with a smaller nozzle ok, but I wouldn't suggest anything larger.</p> <h3>Print instructions</h3><p>Rafts: No<br/> Supports: No<br/> Nozzle: 0.4mm<br/> Resolution: 0.2mm<br/> Infill: 20% rectilinear</p> <p>Infill is irrelevant for most of these parts, since few are tall enough or large enough to use infill.<br/> I suggest using 3 perims.</p> <p>Post-Printing: -</p> <p>Most parts do have push-fit locators to help align parts, but you'll still need superglue to actually hold parts together. Patience is a must.</p>
