Prusa MK2.5S/MK3S X-carriage Split-Back Mod
thingiverse
This is the Prusa MK2.5S/MK3S x-carriage back with several key modifications: - The back has been split into two distinct pieces - Removing the top piece provides effortless access to the x-axis belt - The bottom piece features a slit in the cable hole, making it simple to assemble or disassemble cables - Two additional nuts are added to the x-carriage These alterations were made directly to the original OpenSCAD designs from the Prusa3D GitHub repository at https://github.com/prusa3d/Original-Prusa-i3/tree/MK3S/Printed-Parts/SCAD. Some of the original SCAD code proved particularly vexing, so I opted to edit those sections as well. It's worth noting that the bearing and polyholes SCAD files are Prusa's dependencies. The main benefit this offers over the Prusa R4 x-carriage is the ability to easily re-cable parts of the extruder. Unfortunately, with the Prusa R4 revision, there are insufficient screws available for a straightforward back cover replacement. Therefore, the x-carriage required modification to accommodate two extra nuts (where the extruder screws are).
