Prusa Livarno LED strip mount

I was fiddling with some light for my printer from the very beginning. I had a really good experience with the Ikea Jansjö lamp with a clip, clipped on the top of the spool holder. But the light strip was still in the play.

I spotted a cheap set in Lidl (100338761) 3 pcs by 25cm and I immediately saw them on my printer.

After some drawing in Fusion360 and reading the documentation of Einsy Rambo it was just a matter of an hour to have finished the product.

There are two brackets mounted from the back - you will have to replace the “z-axis-top” screws with 20mm M3 from a spare bag.

Then you will need two countersunk 10mm M4 screws to mount strip clips.

There is a hole for a small switch and after a small adjustment of the Einsy door, the cable can go directly to the board.

Regarding the schematics of the board, there is a “12V” on the J19 connector (where Raspberry Pi Zero is connected from the opposite side). But Prusa is not running on a 12V power supply, so there is not 12, but 24V (protected with 5A fuse).

Because LED is rated to 12V I had to use DC-DC step-down (just search for DC-DC step-down 3A and check the picture) also, but it fits in the bracket.

In the end, I ended with a light that should not collide with almost any accessories or upgrades, and it is very decently hidden behind the frame so you can see what is going on on the printer, but it does not disturb anyone in the room.

I am super happy how it turned out!
