Prusa i4 upgrades
thingiverse
Here is a set of updates designed specifically for the so-called "Prusa i4" 3D printers, which I've been working with. As I received my printer with several broken parts (the y-axis and left vertical panel were both damaged around the electricity slot), I had to create multiple replacement parts. Next, I made some improvements to the filament guide and holder since the original design was unreliable. This upgrade was closely tied to the extruder locks (the native system lacked enough power to pull the filament properly, resulting in empty layers). The x-axis was a persistent problem that caused frequent layer shifts. After investigating further, I discovered that the bottom left corner of the bed was sinking too far down, so I designed a support using an additional rail. To address the issues with the X-rail bearing balls and bearings, which had accumulated rust inside, I bathed them all in oil. One day, on a warm and beautiful morning, the relay that powered the bed suddenly broke, prompting me to design a better cooling system for the printer's interior. In general, these parts can be upgraded to improve their design and eliminate small gaps. However, they are currently in a workable condition. Occasionally, you may need to use some cutting to reinforce the corners of certain parts. I also utilized several existing designs (credit goes to their creators) including: * A fan from Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2302553 * A fan cover from Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1809668 * A knob from Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2015287 * A display knob cover from Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2083085 To learn more about my Prusa i4 project, please visit http://ilkadi.blogspot.com/2018/05/my-prusa-i4-story.html
