I found designing this thing not very hard even for someone new like me. I basically took the original steel piece with 5 mm drill holes, scanned it with a conventional scanner, imported the image into Inkscape, and then went through the contours on different layers to match up the perforations and cuts. I saved the work as an SVG file and brought it into Tinkercad, added some tubing to give the 608zz bearing more support, made some changes, created a mirrored figure, and exported it as STL for printing with Simplify3D. The result is very satisfactory and works well, completely eliminating the "bobbing" in the Z axis. I printed it out in PLA at 0.2% infill and 50% solid, but I think ABS would be better.
