Prusa i3 spoolmount w/ bearings
cults3d
UPDATE 2. Jan 2015: Added a 5.5 mm space to accommodate users with acrylic frames. I haven't tested it yet. This spoolmount utilizes four bearings with an inner diameter of Ø8mm, designed specifically for the 6mm alu-frame. It snaps into place securely without needing screws, bolts, or nuts - simple and effective! The inner slide measures 6.16mm, ensuring a snug fit when paired with a painted frame. For optimal results, aim for a frame thickness of approximately 6.15 mm. Files are available upon request via email at c.sigshoj@gmail.com in either .STEP or .prt format from Solidworks. For the best results, I recommend printing with ABS and 50% infill for added strength and a nice finish. The accompanying images were captured under poor lighting conditions using a flashlight and a mobile phone camera. This design builds upon the work of David Gardner, who created clips to further secure the spool in case of loose fits. His design can be found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:606006
