Prusa i3 spool holder
thingiverse
My fully 3D-printable filament spool holder design is a significant upgrade. It originated from CreativeTools on Thingiverse, but I've made some key improvements. I reworked the original design to make it more efficient and cost-effective by using less plastic and reducing print time. The new version also fits seamlessly onto the Prusa i3 frame. On March 22, 2016, I updated my design with a new version called v1.5, which includes some exciting features: wheels, a spindle for 1.75mm filament axes, and a free filament holder. However, I decided to release v1.5 instead of the newer v2 due to technical issues that made it perform worse than its predecessor. Given my limited time, it may take some time before I complete the new version. The changes in v1.5 are mostly tweaks to the existing parts: Wheels and spindles now have larger holes, eliminating the need for sanding. The spindle has a taller base, preventing wheels from obstructing the filament spool and allowing larger diameter spools to fit. Square pins on the holder have been replaced with octagonal ones for easier assembly in round holes. The body is lower in height, reducing print time and material usage. A cone with a larger hole and a lifted bottom edge makes removal from the print bed easier. Please note that these new parts are untested. If you encounter any errors or issues, report them in the comments or try printing an older version of the part instead.
