Prusa i3 Skommelbot auto bed leveling for MK8 hot end

<p>This is a auto bed leveling system I designed and built for my Prusa i3 (clone) with MK8 hot end. I did not want to add any aftermarket sensors or servos and wanted to utilize what I had on hand. This simply uses the nozzle to probe the bed.</p><p>I could not find much on this type of system apart from my cnc plasma cutter at the time having a similar system. The ones I did find were bulky proof of concepts that didn't seem to go anywhere.</p><p>Another issue I had was x axis maintenance. Having to remove most of the x carriage to change a belt was a huge pain. With the new carriage and belt clamp the x carriage can simply be unscrewed and moved out of the way without removal of the carriage.</p><p>You would need the following:</p><p>2x 3mm linear rods (got mine from an old CD ROM)</p><p>4x 3x7x10 linear bearings</p><p>7x 20x3mm machine screws with nuts</p><p>several small zip ties</p><p>2x 3mm grub screws (these will retain the belt in the belt clamp)</p><p>1x Micro limit switch</p><p>The cooling is added with Satsana mini Quasimodo downloaded from thingiverse.</p><p>NOTE! There is a small spring on one of the linear rods to assist the return of the slide. The limit switch used in the bottom was changed from the one in the pic, to one with the tab in place. This is by no means perfect, but it works great for my purposes.&nbsp;</p>
