Prusa i3 Raised Y-axis Belt
cults3d
Wanting to put all of my electronics below the Y-carriage, I found myself putting wiring dangerously close to the Y-axis stepper pulley and drive belt. To solve the problem, and retain the same print bed height, I relocated the stepper motor and raised the belt plane. The result? Almost doubling the available area in the front and more than doubling the area in the back! Front is now 160mm wide x 240mm deep x 40mm high Rear is now 160mm wide x 120 mm deep and 40mm high ...without altering the height of the print bed or the printer footprint! I have revised the belt mount and the idler. The new parts are pictured printed in red.
