Prusa i3 Mk3s integrated dust filter
thingiverse
I designed a filament dust filter that seamlessly integrates into my Prusa i3 Mk3s printer. I'm uncertain if it will fit on the mk3, but if someone attempts to install it, please let me know! I'd greatly appreciate your feedback. Initially, I started with the original piece (the filament sensor cover) and incorporated a built-in support system, then printed it using PETG since the original part is made of this material. To complete the filter, simply insert a small sponge in the middle. The key to its functionality lies in the sponge's presence. I utilized a sponge from a package that was intended for protection against impacts during transport and found it works remarkably well for this purpose. Please do not print the filter with supports as I designed two bridges (located on the filament holes, in the filter part where the sponge is placed) to eliminate the need for them. To remove the support material, you'll need to remove a small layer underneath the bridges before installing the filter. I used an Allen key and some sandpaper to smooth out this area. For those interested in further customization, I've attached the STL file, as well as 3MF with my printer settings (openable with Prusa Slicer) and F3D from Fusion 360 for more advanced modifications.
