This upgrade replaces the internal laser filament sensor on an MK3 or MK3S using the MK3 optical laser sensor and associated MK3 firmware for use with the MK3/S and Bondtech extruder. It utilizes the EXT-KIT-63 as a replacement sensor, attaching it to the extruder's housing. The lower section of the modified housing is printed with supports and an optional brim, as shown in the image provided. The PTFE filament channel should be smoothed using a 4mm drill bit for optimal performance. This upgrade also includes a modified cutting tool. To assemble the housing, two M3 x 8mm fixing screws are recommended, as they provide a secure fit without being too long. In contrast to previous models, this design requires no changes to the extruder or firmware.
