https://youtu.be/cYleyNNw3mU https://youtu.be/iYWhzs_4uD0 I really like the new MMU2 (MMU2S) upgrade for Prusa i3 MK3(S), but I hate the filament holders and buffer. They are very impractical, difficult to access, and long curved PTFE tubes cause problems with many filaments. High friction occurs on any filament with a slightly rough surface or non-slip surface, such as most filaments with wood or other additives and flexible filaments. I created my own version of the buffer and filament holder, reusing the plates of the original buffer. Filaments positioned on top of the printer take up much less space, and the tipping buffer is much easier to use for loading filament. The PTFE tube is much shorter and not curved. Apart from printed parts, you need to buy approximately 2 meters of squared aluminum profiles 15*15mm (https://www.ehlinik.cz/hlinikovy-jekl-15x15x1-8/pro-EVS0000101.html). You will also need a smooth pipe or better an ellipse pipe to hold filament spools. Here is all the non-printed parts you need: 2 meters of squared aluminum profiles 15*15mm (1,8mm wall thickness) cut into: 3 pieces 25cm long (buffer holder) 2 pieces 30cm long (filament spools holder) optionally 1 or 2 pieces 38cm long (leg/s – to improve stability) approximately 52cm long pipe (circular or oval) M3 screws (mostly 8mm and 12mm length) Printed parts: 2x frame mounts (L+R) 2x junction (either regular or with leg mount) 5x slider (2 parts) 6x divider 3x divider bridge 2x filament pipe holder (you may need to create your own - based on what pipe you have) Optional: leg(s) and pipe plugs, filament divider rings Assembly: Most of the parts are just press fit into aluminum profiles (you may use a bit of glue, but it should not be necessary). Frame mounts can be secured on the frame by changing screws behind the Z axes rods to longer M3 screws. You can use 1 or 2 legs to improve stability (however works even without legs). Use long M3 screw to improve junction strength for leg version. Push the sliders (inserted 2 parts – no need to glue) and dividers with original plates on the profile. Mind the correct orientation for divider and sliders!!! (see pictures and videos) Reuse the PTFE tubes from original buffer. Top PTFE tubes (closer to filament holder) are secured approximately in the middle, and the bottom ones are significantly shortened. (see pictures) Just insert PTFE tubes from MMU and shorten them with a knife. Secure PTFE tubes with M3*12 screws, do not overtighten them!!!
