Prusa i3 Mk3 Control Knob
thingiverse
As the original control knob's protrusion began to annoy me, I took matters into my own hands and designed a new one. I find that this custom knob is much easier to work with, thanks to its smooth scrolling action, which isn't hindered by any protrusions. Additionally, I tweaked the fitting geometry so it doesn't feel like you're pushing the encoder through the PCB. A 60-degree entry chamfer helps with fitting, while still providing a secure grip. I printed this custom knob using PETG, as that's what Prusa recommends. However, there's definitely room for improvement in terms of print quality - apologies for the subpar photo. This control knob stands out from the original by being slightly taller, at 9mm versus 7mm. I'm considering designing a version with the same height as the original, as it doesn't seem to require any extra grip length. Let me know what you think!
