Prusa i3 MK2S Y axis stepper damper attachment plate
thingiverse
When I built my MK2S, I aimed to incorporate dampers from the start, but was let down to find that the y-axis stepper relied on just two screws for attachment. After running the i# for several weeks and growing weary of the constant y-axis noise, I decided to devise a way to install the damper. To bridge the gap between the y-axis mount and the damper, I designed a plate interface in Fusion 360. This plate is an impressive 3mm thick. I had to employ two m3x5 screws to secure the damper to the stepper motor. Additionally, I rummaged through my spares bag and discovered an m3x12 screw along with an m3 nut that allowed me to attach the plate to the topmost mounting point. Although it's a snug fit, I haven't observed any interference between the button head screw and the nut. This is evident in the view from the top. I also added a damper to the x-axis, requiring only two m3x5 screws to install the damper to the stepper motor but utilizing two of the existing installed screws to attach it firmly to the frame. To add extra durability, I printed the part at 100% infill.
