Prusa i3 MK2S E3D volcano mod
thingiverse
Work is still very much in progress and thoroughly untested as of now. I aim to utilize a Volcano hotend on my MK2S, but I was taken aback when I discovered that no one has created a mod for this setup yet. Modders have only designed mods for the MK2 (which features a different pinda probe). So, I decided to take matters into my own hands. The MK2 volcano extruder cover and fan nozzle are crafted by dshamiel, and I chose not to make any alterations; instead, I uploaded them here for your convenience. The extruder body, which holds the PINDA probe, is a remix of the MK2S original - essentially, I simply "stretched" the pinda holder so it extends lower. It's not perfect, as the screws that clamp the probe are likely farther apart than the probe itself is long, and I couldn't find an easy way to extend the grooving properly; nonetheless, I believe it will suffice until someone creates something better. Update 1: I printed the parts and they seem to fit, although I haven't mounted them yet. Unfortunately, you'll need to modify the firmware to accommodate a taller hotend or you'll encounter problems during XYZ calibration: https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/issues/205 Primarily, you must reduce the Z max height in firmware by approximately 8mm.
