Prusa i3 Mk2 Z-brace (front)
thingiverse
This Z Brace is specifically designed as a drop-in replacement for existing Z-Axis Top Pieces, providing extra clearance for lead screw tops and preventing rubbing against any surface. It's engineered to enable the Z-axis to be bolted onto a base plate, forming a sturdy triangle. When used in conjunction with other published Z-axis plates, this setup allows for "locking down" the Z-axis, creating a more rigid machine. Two 500mm M10 bars with nut traps and adjustable nuts on each arm are utilized. The original STL from Josef Prusa serves as the foundation for these top pieces, ensuring precise alignment. For printing purposes, feet are printed on their ends, while Z-braces are printed on their sides. An enclosed STL file is provided for this configuration. This design has undergone updates to simplify foot attachment and improve adjustability at the top of the brace. This remains an ongoing experiment.
