Update 03.18.2017: I just received my printer, which turns out to be a mk2s. I'm currently working on chapter 2 of the Y-Axis. The print of the Y-Frame Assembly Helper was incredibly handy. See photo. mdkendall's mod is an excellent addition. However, my issue with it lies in the fact that metric screws can be quite expensive and hard to find where I live. Since this project is likely a one-off, I dislike the idea of losing inserts, assuming I even have the correctly sized ones. Therefore, I altered mdkendall's remix to incorporate a 3D printed fastener. The concept is to have a snug fit followed by securing it in place using super glue. Depending on the nozzle size and the printer's calibration, the required gap may vary. To account for this, I've included fasteners with dimensions ranging from -0.05mm to 0.15 mm. Simply choose the next suitable size if it's too tight or loose, then print another one. In my case, a 0.00mm gap worked perfectly. It fits together and holds securely on its own, but I will still glue it for added security. Unfortunately, I haven't taken a picture of it yet, as it printed flawlessly. A step file featuring the 0.00mm gap is included. To modify the gap size, simply adjust the variable in the file (refer to the picture) and export the fastener as an STL. Alternatively, you can scale the fastener STL in X and Y dimensions only to achieve the desired fit. The A and B parts should remain consistent in size at all times. As mdkendall advises, print two A parts and two B parts. Although my mk2 printer won't arrive for a while, I want to be prepared with helpful tools and upgrades when it does. I've printed mine using PLA on a Lulzbot mini with a 0.5 mm nozzle.
