Prusa i3 MK2 Y Belt Holder and Tensioner v5
thingiverse
UPDATE 4/21/2017 - Redesign! I've upgraded it to use the same small 2mm x 9mm wood screws, M3 screw and M3 nut that came with the Prusa i3 Kit. This time, everything attaches to a rear plate for easier installation and removal, plus a stronger hold. After months of using my previous design, I noticed it would bend due to its shape, but this new one won't have that issue. I printed it at 75% infill with custom supports only on the rear section as you see in the photos. To ensure solid screw holes, use extra top and bottom layers. The square nut simply presses into the plate's hole. UPDATE 3/17/2017 - I've modified it to use four screws instead of two, which will prevent the idler from losing its shape during belt tightening or prolonged warm environment use. It holds strong now! UPDATE 2/14/2017 - I adjusted the pulley space size to match exactly the width of the stock MK2 pulley. This fits perfectly, with no unwanted extra space like in my previous version. Enjoy! This is a Y-belt idler and tensioner designed for the Prusa i3 MK2 and MK1 printers. It's likely compatible with other 3D printers as well. To assemble this idler/tensioner, you'll need one M3 screw, an M3 square nut (which came with your original i3 Kit), and two M2 x 8mm wood type screws to secure the bottom cover in place. The nut goes into the tensioner's side, while the screw is inserted from behind. Removal is a breeze: simply remove the belt pulley, flip over the tensioner, and take out the two screws holding the cover.
