Prusa i3 Mk2 x-end stepper motor strain relief
thingiverse
This is a speedy strain relief component for the x-carriage stepper motor on a Prusa i3 Mk2. Although the x-carriage doesn't move much in the z-direction during most prints, I didn't like the fact that there was no protection against back-and-forth strain on the wires connecting directly to the x-carriage stepper motor. With two zip ties, this setup can provide much better strain relief, shifting the motion of the wires back into the cable wrap rather than at the wiring harness connection of the motor. The black zip tie for the cable wrap is one of the extras from the Prusa build kit, and any small zip tie will work. The zip tie around the motor needs to be longer than the ones provided in the Prusa build package, so purchase one long enough to go completely around the stepper motor. The one I used was eight inches, which was almost perfect. No additional supports are needed. I printed this part in PETG to have a bit more flexibility than PLA would offer, but either material should work just fine.
