Prusa i3 Mk2 x-end stepper motor strain relief
prusaprinters

This is a quick strain relief part for the x-carriage stepper motor on a Prusa i3 Mk2. Even though the x-carriage doesn't move very much in the z-direction in most prints, I didn't like the fact that there wasn't anything preventing the back-and-forth strain on the wires connecting directly into the x-carriage stepper motor. With two zip ties this can provide much better strain relief, moving the motion of the wires back into the cable wrap, rather than at the wiring harness connection of the motor.

The black zip tie for the cable wrap is one of the extras from the Prusa build, and any small zip tie should work. The zip tie around the motor needs to be longer than the ones provided in the Prusa build packet, so purchase one long enough to go around the stepper motor entirely. The one I used is eight inches, which was almost perfect.

No need for supports. I printed this in PETG in order to have a bit more flex than from PLA, but either should work.

Print instructions

Category: 3D Printer Accessories Print Settings

Printer Brand: Prusa

Printer: Prusa Mk2

Rafts: No

Supports: No

Resolution: 0.2

Infill: 15%
