PROTOTYPE READY FOR ACTION
Revolutionary fan-nozzle and cooling design for the Prusa I3 MK2(s) with a powerful 40mm axial fan. This cutting-edge 40mm fan produces about the same air-pressure as the original 50mm blower but an astonishing 4 times more airflow. The double-sided fan duct provides unparalleled cooling for printed parts. A convenient holder has also been added for a 9mm endoscope-camera. This remarkable build is currently "in progress," so there's no guarantee it will work flawlessly. I assume no liability for damages or issues that may arise. This innovative design draws inspiration from the following groundbreaking projects found on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2065461 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2003467 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2096668 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1958083 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1846705 The thing consists of 7 essential parts. Mandatory are part 0 and part 1, while optional components include part 4 (camera holder), part 5 (x-carriage bearing block), and part 6 (fan-cap). Part 2 and 3 have been slightly modified but can be replaced with the original Prusa parts if using standard bearings. Be cautious: The extruder-body from the MK2s may not fit this design, and the PINDA probe holder is oversized. However, you can easily "downgrade" to the old MK2 extruder-holder or utilize this alternative solution: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1958083 If using part 5 (x-carriage bearing block), it's crucial to upgrade the z-axis-top as well: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1846705 Update: Modified part 3 to accommodate igus RJZM-01-08 or RJM-01-08 (16mm) bearings. If using the original LM8UU bearing, igus RJZM-02-08 or RJ4JP-01-08 (15mm), you can either take the original x-carriage from Prusa or use this alternative: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2438025 Update: Corrected errors in the mesh and resolved an old issue with the x-carriage that caused belt rubbing on the idler. Additionally, optional 6th and 7th parts have been added. Update: Updated part 6 to prevent rattling of the extruder when not perfectly centered. A screwed design has replaced the original glued component. Update: Just replaced the extruder on my printer, and it seems to be working flawlessly. You can follow the entire thread here in the Prusa forum: http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/improvements-f14/alternative-nozzle-cooling-t4395.html Update: Fixed another belt rubbing issue at the x-carriage (Part 3).
