eBay offers some excellent affordable 12V 4W LED panels for car interior lighting (Search: 48 SMD COB Panel LED T10 Car 12V) - Why not create a couple of lamps for my Prusa 3D printer? I decided to design a lamp based on the earlier designed ClipOn system for the main Prusa frame. As the LED panel gets extremely hot when used directly on 12V, there needs to be an effective ventilation grid for cooling. Design challenge: * All plastic and easy to print (no screws, etc.) * As few parts as possible * Little to no post-processing of finished printed parts (edges, holes, etc.) * Wires should be integrated in the solution * Light should be adjustable (direction) If you like this design, you may also enjoy: Prusa i3 MK2/S/3 Filament Guide ClipOn Prusa i3 MK2/S/3 Filament Spool Holder ClipOn Note for MK3: MK3 uses 24V, therefore you have to use LED panels for 24V or connect two lamps with 12V LED panels in series. Please share your great projects of this thing, leave a comment and/or a tip :-) Print Settings: Printer: Original Prusa i3 MK2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.20mm Infill: 25% Rectlinear Notes: 3 top an bottom layers, 2 perimeters. 0.4mm default tip. As the lamp gets hot, ABS or PETG is best suited materials. I used ABS. Post-Printing Assembly: See photos for assembly. Optionally: If ABS vapor smooth parts. Mount LED panel with the double sided tape. Guide wires through the parts (may need to extend/replace wire). Snap the two parts together. Click on Prusa frame. Optionally: Secure wire with a ziptie using the channel below back hole. Connect to 12V power.
