Prusa i3 MK2 Nozzle Fan Upgrade
thingiverse
Hello enthusiasts of the Prusa i3 MK2, After upgrading the extruder fan with JKSniper's design (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2076234), which significantly reduced printer noise, I still had to address the noisy nozzle fan issue. Therefore, I took action! With the success of Noctua fans in mind, I decided to create a 60mm fan adapter for an additional cooling solution. The 40mm version's airflow was lower than the stock radial fan's flow rate, so I opted for a 60mm fan. I used this specific fan and it worked flawlessly, producing minimal noise (measured at 50 cm from the printer: 40 dBa): http://noctua.at/de/products/fan/nf-a6x25-flx You can purchase this fan from Noctua's official eBay shop: http://www.ebay.de/itm/232161938203?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Please note that you should order the 12V FLX version. The complete fan adapter consists of three components: * The adapter itself * A changeable air outlet, allowing you to customize your preferred outlet and easily swap it out * The fan cover, screwed onto the adapter to conceal the fan's less attractive color Unfortunately, I deleted all CAD files except for the ready-sliced G-code files. However, my initial prototypes fit perfectly on the first try, and everything functioned as expected! To attach the adapter to the extruder body, you can use shorter M3 screws from your spare parts. For attaching the cover onto the adapter, I recommend using 4 pieces of M3x35 screws. Enjoy a quiet Prusa i3 MK2 experience!
