Prusa i3 MK2 Filament spool holder for quick and easy swapping(ORIGINAL PRUSA I3 MK2)
thingiverse
A revolutionary new design for the spool holder of the Prusa I3 MK2 3D Printer is here, making quick and easy swapping a reality. Printed with precision without any supports! Watch the video to see it in action: https://youtu.be/IOQ6q4xmlrQ UPDATE: A notch has been added to prevent breaking of the spool holder arm when putting it on the frame. Clearances between the two spindle parts have been increased, eliminating the need for sanding. For those without access to a PVC pipe in the right size, I've included an optional design for the spindle called "Spool_Holder_Spindle_Part1 and Spool_Holder_Spindle_Part2". This makes the entire design 3D printable with no extra hardware required. The design consists of four printed parts and one small piece of PVC pipe. The PVC tube has a diameter of 20 mm and is 10 cm long. If you can't find any 20mm PVC pipe, there's also an alternative available: a 25mm version by mickgalt at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2008183 Note that the clearance between the PVC pipe and caps may be too large or too small due to variations in inner diameter among different manufacturers of PVC pipes. However, some two-part epoxy can fix this issue. After printing, the parts need to be cleaned up by cutting away any overhanging material.
