Prusa i3 MK2 Filament Filter with 4mm PTFE tube
thingiverse
I got this design idea while using cocoknight's snap-on filament filter (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2086804). It's well designed, but I've different usage requirements. I need a filament filter that can: Snap on top of Prusa i3 MK2 extruder, but easily removable. Be able to put an 4mm PTFE tube into it. So this is the design I came up with. I use an idler as the snap-on point. It seats securely enough because filament movement will push it downward naturally. And it's easily removable - all you need to do is lift it upward, which makes unloading filament very easy (it won't jam with a filter). On top, you can insert a 4mm PTFE tube into it. The PTFE hole is designed to be 4.24mm in diameter with 4mm depth. Then there's a smaller 3mm diameter hole below it that acts as a stopper to prevent over-insertion. To make it print-friendly, I put a 0.2mm single layer at the bottom of the filament entry hole. You need to remove this single layer after printing. Printer Settings Printer Brand: Prusa Printer: Prusa MK2 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Post-Printing There's a 0.2mm single layer print at the bottom of the filament entry hole, making it print-friendly. You need to remove this single layer after printing.
