Prusa i3 MK2.5/MK3 X Carriage Back Split Upgrade
thingiverse
**New:** Bottom part with open slot for wires! Can now be mounted without disconnecting wires from controller board. It's a little weaker than the original part but much easier to assemble and can fit perfectly into printer after assembly with original parts. Split x carriage back plate to allow belt adjusting and replacement **without disassembling** all extruder cabling! During Assembly of my new Prusa i3 MK3, I discovered that the x-carriage backplate completely covered the x-axis belt and prevented adjustments without complete disassembly. All printable MK3 parts are published by Prusa and can be found on [Github Original-Prusa-i3/Printed-Parts/stl](https://github.com/prusa3d/Original-Prusa-i3/tree/MK3/Printed-Parts/stl). I modified the model to make it two-part, with the top part removable using the top two M3 screws. Cables are kept in place by the bottom part and the last three M3 screws. For assembly, follow the assembly instructions in the Assembly Manual and my photos. **How to Access the X-Axis Belt:** - Unplug the filament sensor. - Remove the top two back plate screws. - Loosen the sensor cable from the slot. - Remove the top split part to access the belt. Reassembly is done in reverse order. The printer can be used without the top part, just remember to re-plug the filament sensor. **Update 2018.07.22:** Tested and fits the MK2.5 upgrade perfectly. Don't forget - if you like it, please leave a like or a tip!
